Confirmation: Session 1

Start here

Welcome to Confirmation!

You might be wondering what exactly Confirmation is all about. Confirmation is really a completion and a strengthening of your baptism. So, when you were baptized, your parents made promises for you, and you received the Holy Spirit. Now, at Confirmation, you will make those same promises in your own voice, and you will be strengthened even more by the Holy Spirit, so that now, as an adult Catholic, you will be able to share your faith with others and live your faith in the world. Confirmation is about going out in the world and sharing your faith with others.

So, now that we know what a strong connection there is between baptism and confirmation, let's look back at your baptism. Find your parents and ask them to help you complete this form. Make sure your name is on it, and click submit when you're finished.

Think about your baptism.
Pray and reflect on your baptismal promises

Which promises seem easy to you? Which are you unsure of?

Bishop: Do you reject Satan and all his works and all his empty promises?
Candidates: I do.

Bishop: Do you believe in God the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth?
Candidates: I do.

Bishop: Do you believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was born of the Virgin Mary, was crucified, died, and was buried, rose from the dead, and is now seated at the right hand of the Father?
Candidates: I do.

Bishop: Do you believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who came upon the apostles at Pentecost and today is given to you sacramentally in confirmation?
Candidates: I do.

Bishop: Do you believe in the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting?
Candidates: I do.

Bishop: This is our faith. This is the faith of the Church. We are proud to profess it in Christ Jesus our Lord.

All present: Amen.

Now, it's time to call, text, or zoom with your sponsor.

You're going to interview your sponsor about their Catholic faith. Go here and answer these questions with your sponsor. Make sure both your names are on it, and click submit.
